Hey guys;

When the beta opens up, will we be required to use Impulse to download it?  Or will it be available on Stardock Central?

Is the Impulse go-live being tied to the start of the Demigod Beta?

How's it looking for a summer start of the demigod beta?

*hugs* & *kisses*

*waits for Frogboy's reply*
Impulse is available now you know? Albeit the beta but that should be sufficient to download the game i'm hoping..

Yep, Impulse is available right now. Would be the likely place to put it up, too, but who knows?

I've been looking everywhere for this impulse thing... but I can't seem to find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

Get Impulse here. And yeah, the Demigod beta will probably only be available through it, not SDC.

I've got Impulse now. It's got a much higher swankiness factor to it over SDC. I like the builtin dock, that's extremely swanky. Now... if only I could find the letters D E M I G O arranged in a particular order, the D repeated, and such a program available for download!

I initially had my...hmmm...hesistations about download systems but I just tried Impulse downloading the new political race game and I gotta say it works great.

As far as I understood this Impulse thing:

It´s like Steam, with one or two more "features", isn´t it?

not being a impulse guru (only installed it yesterday) I would say "jein" (knowing that you are german ).

you can buy stuff via impulse but will be also their multiplayer client (which intends to use advanced NAT negotiation to reduce connection issues which is great news), doesn't use annoying DRM methods and allows you to manage games/applications you didn't buy via impulse (and if they cooperate with stardock you can even install/patch software you didn't buy via impulse originally.
There will be a Matchmaking and Ranking service for upcoming games (and I hope a tournament system (Ideally both Elimination and Swiss system - I am allowed to have dreams ))

There are also lots of already implemented or upcoming community features.

In the end it is still similar to steam but I already prefer that early incarnation alot over steam (which I don't like at all)... you might check out the review of Stardocks CEO (which is quite neutral for being so biased actually^^) @ https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/315154.

for battle.net users it is a change to have a external mp client for sure but there are several advantages as well as some disadvantages for it. just give it a try

Thanks for the link

But it doesn´t changed my attitude towards those programs (I don´t like steam, too).

I just don´t want to run an extra program just to be able to use the multiplayer part of a game, even it is said Impulse uses only ~15mb of RAM.
Ok, I´m able to run every program through Impulse. But why I should do this? An easily doubleclick on the shortcut is enough

But in the end, we will have to use Impulse in order to use the multiplayer part of demigod, so ...

Some people don't like having their desktops cluttered with shortcuts or having to dig through the start menu for things you use multiple times a day.

I preordered from the site, not impulse. I still get access to the beta, right?

If by 'the site' you mean demigodthegame.com then yes, you're fine.

Playing the Demigod alpha right now actually.  We don't have a specific schedule but informally the beta is expected to be out in mid August.
